Andrew gave a good introduction to what the two of us are doing out here in Western Minnesota. I'm particularly interested in the ant communities of the prairie and am spending my time out here examining ant species richness & abundance on the prairie remnants.
I'm also blogging weekly on the Echinacea Project Field Log, which you can view here: http://blog.lib.umn.edu/wage0005/echinacea/ . You can view my project proposal on there as well.
Here are a few photos from the week:
Me setting up my pitfall traps
My pitfall traps
Pollinator traps that I set up with Greg today (see my entry on the Echinacea field blog)
Style persistence in Echinacea, indicating a lack of pollen or incompatible pollen
That's all for now. I'll post again on here in a few weeks.
