Final Weeks in Kensington (K-town), Minnesota

August 12, 2012 - 22:38 -- jgall

Last Thursday Andrew and I presented our summer research at the University of Minnesota poster session in Minneapolis. This week we're heading to Chicago to do the same with the rest of you at CBG. Although Andrew has wrapped up his research and will depart after the poster session, I still have two additional weeks in Kensington to finish my research and help with end-of-season fieldwork. Sorting, pinning, and identifying ants is an incredibly daunting task, especially because I do not have a full-proof entomologist out here checking over my work.

Brief Introduction

Hi everyone,

Andrew gave a good introduction to what the two of us are doing out here in Western Minnesota. I'm particularly interested in the ant communities of the prairie and am spending my time out here examining ant species richness & abundance on the prairie remnants.

I'm also blogging weekly on the Echinacea Project Field Log, which you can view here: http://blog.lib.umn.edu/wage0005/echinacea/ . You can view my project proposal on there as well.

Here are a few photos from the week:
